Que trata de una escena típica de una ciudad grande.
Escuche el siguiente texto y luego léalo en voz alta:
- A man lights his last cigarette and then throws the empty packet on the ground. It’s sad that he doesn’t put it in the trash can that he has just passed by.
- Un hombre enciende su último cigarrillo y luego tira el paquete vacío al suelo. Es triste que no lo ponga en el receptor de basura que él acaba de pasar.
- There is a parked car under a sign that prohibits parking in that spot. There isn’t anyone in the car; it’s possible that the owner of the car is the man who is smoking.
- Hay un coche estacionado debajo de una señal que prohíbe que se estacione en ese lugar. No hay nadie en el coche; es posible que su dueño sea el hombre que fuma.
- Another car turns right and almost runs over an old lady who is in middle of the street. You can tell that the driver is wearing dark glasses and probably can’t see very well. That’s why he doesn’t see the sign that prohibits a right turn there.
- Otro coche dobla a la derecha y casi atropella a una anciana que está en medio de la calle. Se nota que el conductor lleva gafas oscuras y probablemente no puede ver bien. Por eso no ve que la señal prohíbe que allí se doble a la derecha.
- A man has just hit a pedestrian with his car door while getting out of his car. At the same time a truck suffocates another pedestrian in a cloud of dirty air. A young man (from the truck) and a woman (from a window) calmly cover the street with more trash. Neither of them notice that someone is in that cloud of dust.
- Un hombre acaba de darle un portazo a un peatón mientras baja de su coche. Al mismo tiempo un camión sofoca a otro peatón en una nube de aire sucio. Un muchacho (desde un camión) y una mujer (desde una ventana) tranquilamente cubren la calle con más basura. Ninguno nota que haya alguien en esa nube de polvo.
- A woman and her son start to cross the street when a worker digging in the street throws dirt on the child. The woman seems pretty surprised, but the worker doesn’t even notice.
- Una mujer y su hijo empiezan a cruzar la calle cuando un obrero que trabaja en una excavación le echa tierra al niño. La mujer parece bastante sorprendida, pero el obrero ni se da cuenta.
- On the corner a young man contributes to the air pollution, not with smoke but rather with loud music. It’s possible that he’s looking for a station that plays softer music, but since his radio is so small, it probably doesn’t get many stations.
- En la esquina un joven contribuye a la contaminación del aire, no con humo sino con música fuerte. Es posible que él busque una estación de música más suave, pero ya que su radio es tan chiquita, no es probable que reciba muchas estaciones.
